I was inspired to become a primary care physician after combating a childhood illness when I was 8. One day, I suddenly became ill with a high fever, debilitating joint pain, and swelling. My parents took me to our local urgent-care center several times over the following weeks, and each time I was sent home with a flu or viral infection diagnosis. However, my symptoms continued. Finally, we secured an appointment with my primary care physician. He suspected I had an autoimmune disease. After months of discomfort and fear, I was diagnosed and treated for juvenile idiopathic arthritis and fully recovered. 

This experience motivated me to become a doctor who takes the time to understand my patients’ health and concerns while developing a personal connection.
